Nia Long Has Another Reunion Coming: Confirmed for "Are We There Yet" Franchise

  The actress is reuniting with Ice Cube for the third installment of the Are We There Yet? franchise. Nia Long is going back to a role she first played more than 20 years ago. The actress will reprise her role as Suzanne Kingston in Are They Gone Yet? , the third film in the Are We There Yet? franchise, reuniting with Ice Cube, who will return as Nick Persons. The film is currently in development at Skydance Sports. Long and Ice Cube first appeared together in the 2005 comedy Are We There Yet? , which followed Nick as he tried to win over Suzanne while taking her two children, Lindsey and Kevin, on a cross-country road trip. The pair returned for Are We Done Yet? in 2007, with Nick and Suzanne now married and building a home together. Nearly 20 years later, Suzanne and Nick are entering another chapter. First Look: A Different World Is Coming Back to Hillman College

Netflix has released the first photos from its upcoming sequel series, introducing a new generation of Hillman students alongside several familiar faces from the original.


Nearly 40 years after A Different World first took viewers inside Hillman College, Netflix is giving fans a first look at the next generation.

The streaming platform has released the first photos from its upcoming sequel series, which follows Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, as she begins her freshman year at the fictional HBCU.

Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon stars as Deborah, who arrives at Hillman with a familiar last name and a desire to make her own mark.

She'll be joined by Alijah Kai as Rashida Duvall, Cornell Young IV as Shaquille Johnson, Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir Rodale, Kennedi Reece as Hazel Henry and Chibuikem Uche as Kojo Achebe. The new class will navigate friendships, relationships and college life while figuring out who they want to become.

And yes, some of Hillman's original students are back.

Jasmine Guy returns as Whitley Gilbert, Kadeem Hardison reprises his role as Dwayne Wayne, and Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer are also returning as Ron Johnson and Freddie Brooks. The returning cast also includes Charnele Brown, Ajai Sanders, Karen Malina White, Jenifer Lewis, Dawnn Lewis, Glynn Turman and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Debbie Allen, who directed and executive produced the original series, is back as an executive producer and will direct three episodes of the new series, including the premiere. Felicia Pride serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Original writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood are also returning as executive producers.

The original A Different World ran for six seasons on NBC from 1987 to 1993. The new series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes and centers on a new group of students at Hillman.

Netflix has also released the first trailer, giving viewers a closer look at Deborah and her new friends, along with appearances from the original cast. The series premieres September 24 on Netflix.
